UIC-Field Museum collaborative Program

Thanks to a unique academic partnership, the UIC Department of Anthropology has joined with anthropologists at the Field Museum, to offer advanced degrees (MA and PhD) in anthropology.

The combined resources of these two major research institutions offer a wide range of laboratories, artifact collections, fieldwork opportunities, and a faculty dedicated to mentoring students.

While the collaborative UIC-Field Museum program can enhance the training opportunities of socio-cultural and biological anthropology students (especially those interested in ancient and modern DNA), it is most widely used by archaeology students. This is because the collaborative UIC-Field Museum program establishes one of the largest concentrations of anthropological archeologists in the country and nearly complete world coverage.

NEW: Postdoctoral Teaching-Research Fellowships at the Field Museum.

The Field Museum and the Department of Anthropology at UIC have worked together, training and supporting PhD students, for over ten years. In 2011 our collaborative efforts developed an important addition to the program and established a special set of Postdoctoral Awards.  These awards combine research with the Field Museum’s collections and undergraduate teaching experience at UIC. The goal of the Postdoctoral awards are to provide additional, advanced level, training to the next generation of researchers and to help launch our PhD graduates into successful university and museum careers.
